Yosemite & Morro Bay in under 29 hours

Josh told me one day that he was tired of the fact that he has lived in California for almost 4 years now and still hasn't been to Yosemite. So we decided to just go for it and head out one weekend. After Josh got home from work Friday night, we took our sweet time getting ready and took off. We started on the 6 hour drive. We got to Bakersfield about half way and decided to find a hotel. We started calling around and were able to talk different Hotels down in price, we'll as we were getting ready to exit we saw a sign for a Motel for $37 bucks, we were having an adventure and trying to make this as cheap as possible, so we sucked it up and ended up staying at this total trucker stop. We should have just sprung for the extra $20 bucks for something a nicer, but we just laughed about it and were only at the hotel for 8 hours, or less. So we woke up early Saturday morning headed out to Yosemite to enjoy it, then headed over to Morro Bay, enjoyed it and made it home Saturday night. It was a quick trip but we loved it.

An awesome view of Half-Dome, if you look closely you can see the waterfalls to the right and near the bottom right.

Josh & Jenn, already planning another fun hike to the top of Half-Dome. Half-Dome is the top of that rock. We can't wait.

Josh & Jennifer this picture is crazy, it seriously looks like we are standing if front of a back drop.

A beautiful view of the valley at Yosemite. (That's not a painting, it really is that beautiful....hello its California.)

So we drove threw a mile long tunnel and there were 2 pockets of tunnels that one could walk down. So Josh & I were brave and walked down to check out the view. The tunnel was pitch black, um....kinda scary good thing I was able to hold on so tightly to Josh.

You can get an idea of just how dark it was. We didn't bring a flashlight, so we just kept taking pictures and using the flash from our camera. That worked.

Here is the view that the tunnel popped us out, we were so glad we did it, because it was so gorgeous.

Funny story. When we were entering the park a Toyota Corolla had gone speeding threw a stop sign right in front of us. We were paying and talking to the ranger while this happened. So the ranger starts freaking out yelling at another ranger to call the car in and have someone go and give him a ticket. We were like oh problems with people running stop signs? He was like no, we've had so many people killing bears from speeding. We looked at him kinda like he was crazy, I wouldn't be worried about what a Corolla could do to a bear, but what a bear could do to that tiny little car, so when we saw this sign we just laughed.

After we were done at Yosemite, we decided to be adventurous and drive across the state 2 more hours to the coast and see Morro Bay. It was a beautiful drive getting there. We drove threw farmlands, and several vineyards pictured above. Who needs Italy? It was beautiful, I think we'll still go to Italy for the shopping though....of course. =)

Jenn & Josh at Morro Bay, it was so pretty, we can't wait to go back and camp.

The Beach at Morro Bay

Josh & Jennifer & tons of bird crap all over, just right here though.

Another view of Morro Bay. We had a great trip. After we left here we took HWY 1 and followed the coast till it go too dark to see anything. It was a fun adventurous weekend with my eternal companion.
